What we collect
- Account: the email from your Google or Apple sign-in, the name your provider shares with us (we keep it as your account's display name), and the public username you choose. Sign in with Apple's "Hide My Email" is fully supported, and with Apple you can decline to share your name.
- Your details: your first and last name, and optionally an email address, a phone number and your age. You enter these yourself in Profile and you can change or remove them at any time. Only you can see them. Other people never see your name, your email, your phone number or your age. What they see is your username, your initials and your profile photo if you set one.
- Profile photo: if you add a profile photo, it is stored on our servers and shown to other people in rooms you join. You can remove it at any time, and deleting your account deletes it.
- Pictures shown in a room: a room's host can show the room a photo or the pages of a PDF, and a guest can ask the host to show one. Each page is sent to Anthropic, whose automated filter checks it before anyone else sees it; a page the filter refuses is not stored. A page that passes is stored on our servers and shown to the people in that room. A guest's pages are seen by the host alone until the host agrees to show them, and are deleted if the host says no. Pages are deleted when the host stops showing them or shows something else, when the room is deleted, and when the host deletes their account.
- Your music library: audio files you add from your own device are kept in your private library so you can play them in rooms you host. They stay until you delete them or delete your account. Only you can see your library; nobody else can browse it.
- Shared audio: when you play one of your files in a room, the people in that room receive a copy for the session only. Their copy is deleted when they leave the room, and the room's copy is deleted when the room ends or is deleted.
- Voice: your voice is transmitted live to the people in your room. It is not recorded or stored by us.
- Text messages in a room: the text messages and reactions you send in a room's chat go live, through LiveKit, to the people in that room at that moment. We don't store them, and they are gone when the room ends. The one exception is a message someone reports: we keep its words, the sender's username and when it reached the person who reported it, together with the report, so we can act on it.
- Schedules: the event name, the days proposed, and the times each person marks. These are visible to the people invited to that schedule. If you answer an invite on the web without an account, we store the name you type and the times you mark, tied to that invite, so the group can see who answered.
- Reports and blocks: if you report content or block someone, we store that report/block to act on it. A report of a chat message includes that message, as described above. A report of a picture shown in a room records the room, which picture was showing and who showed it.
- Stories you make: Create your story uses AI. The words you type, and a photo if you add one, are sent to Anthropic, which writes the story. The story's text is then sent to ElevenLabs, which reads it aloud. Your account details are not sent to either. The app tells you this and asks before your first story, and nothing is sent if you say no. If you speak your idea instead of typing it, Apple's speech recognition turns it into text, on your phone where your phone supports that.
- How the app is used: the app sends us counts of what is used, such as the app being opened, a room joined or a session finished. Each carries an identifier made on your phone for this purpose, the app's build number and, when you are signed in, your username. We use them to see what works and to fix what does not. They are never shared with advertisers.
- Notifications: if you allow notifications, we store the token Apple gives your phone so we can send them. Turning notifications off in Settings stops them, and deleting your account deletes the token.
- Stories you share: when you share a story you made, the person who opens your link sees its title and your username and can play it in the app. They never see what you typed or the photo you added to make it. Stop sharing ends the link in the app. For up to 30 days after you make a link, its web page can still show your username and the story's title to anyone who has the link. We keep who the link went to and when it was opened, so only that person can play it, and we show you how many people opened your links, never who.
- Invite links opened without the app: when you open a room invite link and MeditDate is not installed, our invite page records that tap so the app can open the right room after you install it. We store the room's link details (the room name, the username of the person who sent it and the room type, all of which are already in the link) together with a keyed hash of your network address. We never store the address itself. The record is used once, when the app first asks for it, and is deleted after 24 hours whether or not you install.
- Sound clips on our websites: the pages on invite.meditdate.com and schedule.meditdate.com count three things, at most once each time a page is opened: a clip started playing, a clip played for 15 seconds or to its end, and a tap to get the app or open it. Each count says only which kind of page it was (for example the home page or a room invite, never which room or link), which clip, which of the two sites, and where the visit came from in one word: a search engine, a social app, one of our own pages, somewhere else, or nowhere we can tell. It never includes the address of the page you came from. Counting uses no cookies, keeps nothing in your browser, and sends no name, account, device or link details. We don't store your network address with these counts, and we keep only a total for each day.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers.
- We don't track you across other apps or websites.
- We don't record your conversations. Voice is never recorded, and chat messages are not stored, except a message someone reports.
Where it lives
Accounts, shared files, schedules and reports are stored with our backend providers (Supabase); live voice, text messages and room coordination run through LiveKit. Both process data on our behalf to run the app. Anthropic and ElevenLabs process the words of a story you make, and Anthropic checks the pictures shown in a room, as described above. Our two websites are hosted by Netlify. Netlify and Supabase see your network address when your browser loads a page or sends a count, as any web host does.
Deleting your data
Delete your account inside the app (Profile tab → Delete account). This removes your sign-in, your username, your profile photo, your rooms and the pictures shown in them, your music library, your schedules and answers, and any audio you shared. Your Apple/Google connection to the app is revoked as part of deletion.
We keep anonymous counts after a deletion, such as how many people signed up or how many rooms were held in a week. These are totals only. They are not linked to you, they cannot be traced back to you, and they contain none of your content.
You can also remove a single file at any time (Library → the file → Remove), which deletes it from our storage.
If you answered a schedule invite on the web without an account and want that answer removed, email us at the address below and we will delete it.
